Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
GapFinder (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use GapFinder.
What we collect
We collect your email address and name when you sign in with Google OAuth. We store your usage data (explores, decodes) to enforce plan limits. We do not store raw YouTube video data — only computed insights.
How we use Google user data
On the Creator plan, you can optionally connect your YouTube channel. When you do, we request the following read-only Google scopes:
youtube.readonly— to read your channel and uploaded video metadata so we can surface gap analysis and creator insights tied to your own channel.yt-analytics.readonly— to read your channel analytics (views, watch time, audience retention) so we can show performance tied to specific gap opportunities.
We never modify your channel, never post on your behalf, and never use Google user data for advertising. We store only computed insights and channel summaries — never raw analytics rows. Access tokens are stored encrypted at rest and used solely to make authenticated requests on your behalf to Google’s APIs.
How we use it
Your data is used solely to operate GapFinder: enforcing plan limits, saving your niches, and sending transactional emails (plan confirmations, receipts). We do not sell your data to third parties.
Third parties
We use Paddle for payments (their privacy policy applies to payment data), Google OAuth for authentication, and PostHog for anonymous product analytics.
Cookies
We split cookies into three categories. Essential cookies are always on; the optional ones only load if you opt in.
- Essential — auth session, payment flow, security, error monitoring (NextAuth, Paddle, Sentry errors-only). Required for the site to work.
- Analytics — anonymous product usage events (PostHog). Helps us understand which features get used.
- Marketing — referral tracking (Rewardful) so creators who recommend GapFinder can earn commission.
You can change your choices any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
Your data, your choice
You can disconnect your YouTube channel at any time from Settings → Connections, which immediately revokes our Google OAuth tokens and clears all associated YouTube data from our database.
You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Danger Zone. Account deletion revokes any active Google OAuth tokens, cancels any active subscription on your behalf, and removes all stored data (profile, usage history, saved niches, channel summaries) within 30 days. Operational backups are purged within 90 days.
You may also revoke GapFinder’s access directly at Google Account → Third-party access.
